On October 7, 2010 EPAR will organize a new edition of the PhD Introduction and Career Day 2010. During this day, there will be lectures and workshops about the various skills and qualities that are needed for the succesful completion of a PhD trajectory and beyond. On-line registrations have been closed, yet on-site registration will be possible from 12.45 till 13.00 in front of LB-067.
The program starts with a plenary session in room LB-067. After a short introduction of the EPAR president, the rector magnificus will open the day with a lecture on the PhD policy of the Erasmus University, in which he discusses how the university plans to retain talent and to increase the number of female professors. Subsequently, Dr. J. Schrijvers (international bestseller author of ‘Hoe word Ik een Rat’, English translation: ‘The Way of a Rat’) will share his experiences as a scientist, advisor, and manager on organizational change. He will tell you all about the political games and how to make sure YOU are the one who makes it to the top.
The program will continue with a Printer and Information market where several PhD-relevant facilities will be represented (such as the beadle’s office, the librarian, and professional printers).
Afterwards, there will be two rounds of 1 hour workshop sessions. A description of the workshops is listed below.
The various lectures and workshops are planned from 13.00 till 17.00, and afterwards there will be a drink in the ‘Smitse’. Note that there will be coffee and tea from 12.45 till 13.00 in front of LB-067.
