The Dutch government has announced plans to enable Universities to stop providing a salary to PhD candidates and instead move to a system of scholarships (’Bursalen system’). This amendment has been put on the agenda by the Dutch Universities (VSNU). The PhD-representatives of the thirteen Dutch universities, including EPAR, denounce the implementation of this scholarship scheme.
